Well...I didn't keep the draft of my card within the parcel.
It's actually just some compliment and recent status of mine, and information about the scrolls.
How the scrolls came from, not cost much...blahblahblah

At first, I was pretty worried, wondering do British teachers accept gift like this?
It turns out to be fine.(individual case?)

Below are the email content:

Dear Jack,

There is a mail delivered to school office tomorrow.
You may find your time to collect it tomorrow afternoon or later please.

Regards,
Cedrick

Dear Cedrick,

I was away on Friday, but I received the package this morning, so thank you very much.

I'm not sure that I understand the significance of the thought behind the picture of the bird and the flowers.  Is it that the beauty of the flowers inspires more beauty in the bird's song?

Also the calligraphy.  The idea that a proper understanding of the microscopic leads to a full understanding at the large scale is a familiar one in the west (though I'm not so sure that it's true).  The second part about debate leading spontaneously to clarification is more difficult and I must ponder upon it!

So please pass on my thanks and good wishes to your uncle.  Tell him that I will hang the scrolls in my study at home.

And I'm pleased to hear that you have found interesting work.  Do you intend to write up the project for a PhD?  Is so, then very good luck with it.

With best wishes...     Jack

Dear Jack,

I'm glad you like them. Those lines in calligraphy could have multi-meaning depend on one's reflection. So you may find some other guy reads Chinese, he could give you totally different explanation probably! Please don't bother too much on them, just hope you could find some fun in watching them.

I intend to go abroad to get my PhD in two years after my work here. At that time, I'll have to ask you a favour to write a reference letter for me.
Then, thank you in advance!

My uncle is busy holding his personal painting exhibition these days, and I'll let him know when he is back.( We live in the same lane actually)
I believe he would be flattered!

With best wishes
Cedrick

Cedrick...

By strange coincidence I am reading a book about the history of politics at the moment.  Last night I read a chapter about the development of democratic and autocratic rule in the Roman Empire and there was a chap called Octavian (the emperor after Julius Caesar) who was reported as saying much the same as your scroll about truth emerging spontaneously from discussion.

Just let me know when you need a reference.

Jack

Finally, attached my supervisor's photo. XD
He used to be a wild beard man! However, he was the same look as the photo.
